AFRICAN - indicates the church was organized by people of African descent. This does not mean the church was founded in Africa, nor that members and/or guest have to be of African descent. All are welcome in the house of our Lord and Savior, Jesus, The Christ!
METHODIST - reflects the church's membership in the family of Methodist churches. There are seven World Methodist Council denominations. Founder and first bishop, Richard Allen, discerned that Methodism would be best suited to meet the needs of the African community during the church's early development.
EPISCOPAL - means to be governed by a bishop or bishops. Our church is Episcopal because bishops are the chief executives and/or administrative officers. The General Conference, elected representatives of the entire denomination, gives the bishops the governing authority to oversee the affairs of the church
